World Book Day 2025
We are celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 6th March.
Our theme will be ‘Bedtime Stories’ to promote the importance of getting cosy and enjoying a good book! Children are invited to come to school that day either dressed as a book character or wearing their lounge-wear/pyjamas and dressing gown and to bring their favourite book to read (and a small teddy if they choose to). They can, of course, wear their school uniform if they do not wish to dress-up.
There will be a 20p pre-loved book sale at both sites on the 6th, we are asking children to bring any books they wish to donate into school the day before, on Wednesday 5th March, to avoid any confusion with the books they’re bringing in to read on World Book Day.
Usborne Books will be holding a pop-up shop after school in the hall at FTR. Parents and children from both sites are welcome to visit, browse and order (all commission will be used to buy new books for each class). Pyaments may be made by cash or card. Orders can also be placed via email albiesbookshelf@gmail.com. Books will be labelled with children's names and class and delivered to school.
The Ready, Steady, Read project is organised in conjunction with our local Usborne Partner, Lauren Sykes. Usborne will also donate up to 60% of the total raised in EXTRA FREE BOOKS to the school. For every £600 raised, we will get an extra £360 in FREE Usborne books! Donations are due back before Friday 14th March, all money raised will be used to purchase new books for classrooms.
Staff will be taking part in a Masked Reader picture quiz, view the gallery below and email your answers to longroydeprimary@gmail.com.
Children at both sites are invited to decorate a wooden spoon as a book character and all entries must be in by Thursday 6th March. Miss Parry will announce the winners in the rewards assemblies on Friday 7th March.
Yours sincerely
