Meet our Autumn Reading Influencers. These children will share recommendations with their peers in class and once a month with their Key Stage (in assemblies), with the hope of encouraging children to try new authors and text types. To spread the word and encourage others, KS1 children will talk to their teachers and peers, whilst KS2 children will produce an article to go in their year group’s newsletter.

Dare to be Different Day 2nd Jul 2024

Everyone at Longroyde is different from each other. We all have different names, we look different, have different members of our families, have different beliefs and opinions. We are holding our annual Dare to be Different Day on Friday 28th June to celebrate our differences and all children who wish to take part are invited to dress down that day for a £1 donation. A link to pay online will be sent shortly. • We dare you to wear your PJs to school • We dare you to wear odd socks or colourful tights • We dare you to wear fancy dress • We dare you to wear your own clothes backwards • Or just feel free to wear whatever feels comfortable

We were overwhelmed by the response to our Good as New Book Swop request to bring pre-loved, age-appropriate books to school to exchange. Thank you so much for your kind donations. Our aim is to make sure as many children as possible will receive a book and this is a brilliant step towards this. Thank you for your continued support and contributions.

The Year 4 children visited Rastrick Library as part of our World Book Day activities. The visit started with a short story and then the librarian explained how the books are arranged at the library. The children had some free time to look at books and explore what the library has to offer. The children were able to become a member of the library and take a book home.
