Following the colder weather over the weekend, I thought it might be helpful to
remind parents of our procedures in extreme circumstances. We aim to provide
a reliable service to our families and understand the problems school closure
causes to families. We always try to remain open and hope that if our children
can travel to school safely, that they will make every effort to (as our staff do).
In the event of severe weather conditions (e.g. very heavy snow or flooding)
causing the school to be closed before school opens or during the school day,
the school would report to parents via the following, and in the case of closure
before school should start, by 7am:-
• A text message from our teachers2parents text system
• Calderdale Council Emergency closure page at
The following will also be updated as soon as practicable:-
• The school website – www.longroyde.org.uk
• The school’s twitter account - @Longroyde
Should heavy snow or other extreme conditions during the school day
necessitate an early finish, we will make telephone or text contact with parents.
Please make sure the office has your up to date contact details. No child will
ever be left or sent home without contact being made.
